Editorial cartoonist Darrin Bell—recipient of the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning, the 2016 Berryman Award for Editorial Cartooning, and the 2015 Robert F. Kennedy Award for Editorial Cartooning—has been a professional smart-ass since he began freelancing for West Coast newspapers during his sophomore year at U.C. Berkeley. While there, he created the comic strip Candorville, which has been syndicated by Washington Post Writers Group since 2003. They also syndicated his editorial cartoons until 2018, when Darrin took them to King Features Syndicate as part of his mid-life crisis (leaving his wife and three adorable kids was out of the question, as was the mohawk).
While not creating editorial cartoons and Candorville in his California studio, Darrin’s creating cartoons for The New Yorker, as well as storyboards for film and television. He would also like you to visit him at www.darrinbellart.com, and bring a friend.
